Sustainability Policy
Our Pledge
As the print industry evolves toward more sustainable practices, Italic Press is committed to being part of that change. We believe in transparency and collaboration. We won’t make misleading claims about the environmental impact of print. Instead, we work with clients to find options that support their goals. We encourage our clients to share their sustainability priorities so we can help them make informed choices about materials, production methods, and design.
Our Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
In 2015, the United Nations launched 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to promote environmental responsibility, social equity, and long-term economic growth. We recognize that even small businesses have a role to play. At Italic Press, we focus on the areas where we can make the greatest difference, mainly through how we produce, source, and advise.
1. Focusing on Key Goals
We’ve aligned our efforts with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), which are most relevant to our work. We encourage printed materials to be purposeful, either made from recyclable materials or designed to be kept. When sustainable substrates aren't an option, we emphasize longevity - choosing formats, finishes, and designs that make the piece worth keeping and reusing.
2. Setting Practical Targets
We are tracking internal indicators like paper waste, recycling, and energy use. While we’re still formalizing targets, we are making progress in these areas and will continue to share updates as we build a clearer reporting structure.
3. Taking Action
We offer recycled and FSC-certified paper options, recommend efficient production methods, and aim to reduce waste wherever possible. We work closely with clients to make environmentally sound decisions throughout the production process without compromising on quality or design intent.
4. Monitoring Our Performance
We’re working toward sharing more data about our environmental performance. For now, we’re focused on measuring key areas of impact within our operations and using those insights to improve how we work.
5. Working with Responsible Suppliers
We expect our suppliers to uphold high standards in sustainability and transparency. We regularly challenge our current vendors to improve their offerings and we seek out new product lines that provide better, lower-impact materials. This approach helps us evolve along with the industry and provide clients with up-to-date, responsible options.
Looking Ahead
Sustainability isn’t just a trend. It’s part of how we do business, we are a digital printer for a reason and we consume fewer materials from ready-made to full production. We’re taking meaningful steps now and continuing to build a framework for long-term progress. We’re also exploring programs like Support the Goals to help us track and communicate our efforts more effectively.
